In her bitingly funny one-woman show, Luce Gaston examines desire through the prism of history and philosophy. A brilliant patchwork about love in the time of mobile phones and dating apps.

What if we gave ourselves a fresh start when it comes to love, sex, and human relations? Author and actress and Luce Gaston began this project by diving into several millennia of history and philosophy as a way to unravel a ball of yarn tangled to the point of absurdity and to understand just how it is that we have come to order humans on the web as if they were a pizza. Accompanied by the musicians Julie Gasnier and Katel, she has stitched together a funny, lively show, in which a mosaic of varied motifs, from stand-up to lecture, podcast, news, and fake advertisements, are packed full of wry punchlines, historical references, and poetry. Luce Gaston draws her inspiration as much from cabaret (she is a regular on stage at Secret in Paris) as the world of radio, in which she works frequently as a voice actor for advertising campaigns. She exploits the mechanics of this genre and the effectiveness of its formulas to press people’s buttons, but she goes beyond that. Emotions regularly rise to the surface, and with that, the promise of a humanist upsurge and new forms of solidarity.
