With Blablabla, Joris Lacoste and Emmanuelle Lafon will be orchestrating, for the first time, a children’s version of their Encyclopédie de la parole. In Blablabla, a singer-performer explores how children hear through recordings of Harry Potter as well as with toys, TV shows or music. → a family show, suitable for audiences aged 6 years old upwards

The SHOW

In the last ten years, the Encyclopédie de la parole has been exploring what is real through the medium of human language. Directed by Emmanuelle Lafon and composed by Joris Lacoste, Blablabla draws upon each word’s slightest oral inflections. What do we hear, in terms of their meaning, when these words are taken out of their context and turned into sound matter?

It might be Mrs McGonagall greeting Hogwarts’ young witches and wizards, the conductor welcoming us aboard the train, a speaking toy, a rapper rapping or the queen of hearts wanting to make some heads roll... How do children perceive what they hear at school, at home, on the street, or on television? Via a special sound device, designed by Ircam for the occasion, the actress-singer-performer Armelle Dousset experiments with her voice and gathers an array of different characters.
