Unclassifiable dancer DeLaVallet Bidiefono joins forces with Dieudonné Niangouna, a figurehead in the new scene in Congo. Together, they have created Monstres / On ne danse pas pour rien (Monsters / You don’t dance for nothing), a new and luminous homage to the men and women who put up a very poetic resistance to today’s dictatorships. → Creation 2017

THE SHOW

In the Congo, this unclassifiable dancer is seen as a “crazy man who travels”. One day, DeLaVallet Bidiefono decided to set up his own troupe: Baninga. He built a space for his troupe located about an hour’s drive from Brazzaville, and ten years later, in December 2015, the Baning’Art space was inaugurated. Naturally, he wanted to put on a show. Working with writer, director, and actor, Dieudonné Niangouna, a figurehead in the new scene in Congo, they began to call their creations monstres (monsters) in honor of the men and women who oppose today’s dictatorships through very poetic forms of resistance.
