Every year, the graduates of the prestigious Centre national des arts du cirque (National School for Circus Arts) set up at La Villette and put on their final year show. In 2018, they are joined by students from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT) in a collective production directed by acrobat Mathurin Bolze of the MPTA troupe.

THE SHOW

One of La Villette’s all-time standards is the final-year show put on by the graduating class from the Centre national des arts du cirque (National School for Circus Arts). A unique opportunity for all the graduating students to showcase their skills for professionals in attendance and a windfall for audiences. These young circus performers bring their assorted tackle and talents together for a first, major, collective production.

MATHURIN BOLZE

The director chosen for the CNAC’s 29th graduating class big show is Mathurin Bolze, a 1996 graduate of this school. His creations within the MPTA troupe (founded in 2001) include the shows Fenêtres (windows, 2002), Tangentes (tangents, 2005), Ali (2008), Du Goudron et des plumes (tar and feathers, 2010), À Bas bruit (lower noise, 2012), and Barons perchés (perched barons). For this teaching project, he brings together students from the same generation but from two different national schools of art. Thus, the fourteen students from the Cnac’s 29th graduating class will join with five students from ENSATT’s 76th graduating class in an effort to spur crossovers and collaborations between these future artists and designers with complementary backgrounds.
