A new cabaret genre takes center stage: Afro Cirkus. Their show, Itinéraire d’un Continent (A Continent’s itinerary), recounts and re-enchants an entire continent’s fascinating history. Africa’s tales and legends, glories and crises, subjugation and independence, heroes and heroines spring to life with the Cirque Mandigue’s clowns, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, and today’s spectacular new technologies. → In partnership with Le Cabaret Sauvage

Welcome to a new genre of cabaret! The Cirque Mandingue’s circus artists, dancers, and musicians hail from all points across Africa. They will soon be performing at Le Cabaret Sauvage, right here at La Villette. Their show is titled Afro circus Itinéraire d’un Continent (A Continent’s Itinerary). This vast continent, both fascinating and frightening, is recounted in eight scenes. That’s eight key stages in a journey through history and time.

From the birth of the continent to its renaissance, onwards to its slave trade days, to independence and heroines, the tales are re-enchanted by the clown, the Chinese pole, the hand-to-hand balancing acts, acrobatics, and contortion, but also via dance and cutting-edge technologies.

Live music performed by musicians on stage is punctuated by wacky acts by the storyteller and the DJ acting as the master of ceremonies. He is the running thread in this dialogue with our heritage. He adroitly provides a dollop of self-deprecating humor.

A show that makes you only want to do one thing: dance until midnight at the Bal'Mandingue.
