Round shapes prevail in Little Worlds, in which the stage takes the form of a secure, padded, circular arena that remains as close as possible to the audience. There is no boundary between art and the toddlers who are invited to play with the performers and their shiny, colourful puppets.
A galaxy of soft balls of all sizes and colours occupies the centre of the arena controlled by the hands of extraterrestrials, cosmonauts, and angels dressed in white. The large balls open to release a half dozen puppets who fly throughout this cosmos. Invited to scamper about this colourful space, the toddlers analyse each object with their eyes, their hands, and at times, even with their mouths. Some might want to explore, while others may prefer to observe from the comfort of their parents’ embrace. Little Worlds is a participative show for all children, because each child holds a unique world within them, built out of his/her realities and dreams. By creating worlds of bright colours and unusual puppets, the Lithuanian company Kaunas State Puppet Theatre invites the youngest of children to enter the world of dance.
